Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of patient specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification to ensure accurate specimen collection
  • Assess patient reactions to specimen procurement and provide medical assistance when necessary
  • Collect specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol
  • Ensure specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing
  • Resolve specimen identification and requisition problems
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, and assist with inventory and supplies
  • Order and verify test requests, and document information for quality assurance
  • Provide assistance in support of billing and other business functions
  • Instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and data entry
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • No experience required
  • Basic computer skills, including experience using computer software applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. You may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radioactive, and/or infectious agents. You will be required to wear appropriate lab attire, including gloves, gowns, and eye and face protection as needed.
