Food Sales Representative

Sysco is a leading foodservice distribution company with a global presence, serving over 700,000 customer locations worldwide. We're seeking a skilled Food Sales Representative to join our team and contribute to our success.
About the Role
This position involves carrying out and achieving sales plans assigned by the Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG). The successful candidate will achieve maximum sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within their assigned territory by effectively selling the company's products. They will promote, sell, secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship approach, demonstrating products and services to meet their needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory.
- Maintain excellent customer service skills to build strong relationships and drive sales growth.
- Take customer orders while considering SSMG goals of maximizing sales and gross profit per stop.
- Participate in reviewing and overseeing input of orders for customers via communication with inside sales partners.
- Respond promptly to customer problems and needs.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of prior food service and/or sales experience, preferably in the meat and seafood category.
- Deep expertise in meat and seafood or a restaurant/culinary background with the ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
- Strong consultative sales abilities and excellent customer relations skills.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000, with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company. Additionally, you'll enjoy a range of benefits, including comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
Decision-Making Authority
In this role, you'll have the autonomy to make decisions independently in areas such as building relationships with customers, time management, and customer pricing. However, some decisions, such as sales strategy and contract pricing, will require review and approval from supervisors.
