Job Summary

Crown Power & Equipment is seeking a skilled Service Writer to serve as a liaison between our service department and internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team to solve problems and issues successfully.

About the Role

As a Service Writer, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the service department, including communicating with customers regarding repair timelines and updates on anticipated completion dates. You will also be responsible for managing warranty bins, service parts, and oil sample submissions, as well as maintaining accurate and on-time reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department
• Follows a check-in/check-out process for all customer units
• Communicates regularly regarding repair timelines and updates on anticipated completion dates with all customers
• Assists in logistics of trucking/washing/etc. as directed
• Completes all factory shipping verification for shortages and equipment condition at the time of delivery
• Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Assistant Service Manager and maintains control until they are previewed, approved, and invoiced
• Manages all warranty bins/service parts to be returned/oil sample submission and tracking
• Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work order
• Ensures all service warranty and Product Improvement Programs are completed and submitted within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Maintaining accurate and on-time reports

Requirements

• Knowledge of basic computer functions
• Understanding of basic accounting practices
• Experience analyzing and interpreting basic internal reports
• Professional phone etiquette
• Positive and effective communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team or individually to solve problems or issues successfully
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience in equipment service in the same or similar industry is required
• Class E driver's license
• Forklift certification

What We Offer

Crown Power & Equipment offers a competitive salary range of $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision premiums, paid vacation and PTO, paid holidays, and eligibility to participate in the 401(k) plan after 90 days of employment with a company match up to 4%.
