Permitting Specialist

Brunswick County is seeking a skilled Permitting Technician to join our team in Code Administration. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in reviewing residential and commercial building permit applications, issuing permits, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Review and process building permit applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Issue permits for building, fire, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and gas services
• Assist the public with scheduling inspections and provide clear communication through our contractor portal
• Verify address information and identify flood zones and other jurisdictions that apply
• Perform billing, acceptance, and processing of payments, including daily deposits

• Associate's degree in planning or a related field, with some experience in technical and administrative support work in a governmental setting
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
