Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the necessary approvals for their medical treatments and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and manage prior authorization requests for pain management procedures, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to insurance providers.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to gather necessary clinical information and documentation for prior authorization requests.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance providers to resolve any issues or concerns related to prior authorization requests.
  • Monitor and track prior authorization requests, ensuring that all necessary information is submitted and that approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring that their needs are met and that they are informed of the status of their prior authorization requests.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing insurance requirements and regulations, ensuring that prior authorization requests are submitted in compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or post-secondary education preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in prior authorization or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
