About the Role

The NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation is seeking a talented and skilled Eco-Friendly Engineering Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical engineering support for various financial assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve water quality protection and wastewater treatment planning and design documents to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Act as principal engineering project coordinator, interacting with internal divisions and government agencies.
  • Establish working relationships with municipal officials and present project priority and eligibility for CWSRF financial assistance.
  • Review and make recommendations for approval or eligibility of engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Manage multiple projects, provide technical assistance, and maintain project databases and spreadsheets.
  • Conduct construction site visits to monitor activities and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • May serve as a mentor to other engineering staff and handle more complex projects with greater independence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering and successful passage of the FE examination or three years of full-time wastewater related engineering experience.
  • Environmental Engineer II must possess a New York State Professional Engineer's (PE) license and current registration, and have a minimum of one year experience as a PE.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and terminology used in water quality and wastewater collection and treatment systems, including the ability to understand, interpret and analyze technical material.
  • Desired knowledge areas include water quality and wastewater engineering, construction cost estimating, environmental permits, and federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Required skills include compiling and organizing data, managing multiple projects, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits and Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with prolonged periods of sitting and fine manipulation skills required for computer use.
  • Employees may request to telecommute up to two days per week after the completion of their training period.
  • Salary will be based upon experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations, with a base salary for Environmental Engineer I of $84,246 and for Environmental Engineer II of $90,931.
