Overview:

Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a skilled Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our Albany, NY team.

In this role, you will conduct site assessments, investigations, surveys, and prepare environmental documentation. Our environmental monitoring and remediation experts investigate, characterize, and design remedial measures for environmental concerns that create risks for human health and the environment.

We provide Solutions for Environmental Concerns, including:

  • Brownfields assessment and cleanup
  • Groundwater and soil monitoring and sampling
  • Hydrogeological investigations
  • Stray gas response
  • Remediation & restoration services
  • Subsurface vapor intrusion & mitigation
  • Asbestos, lead, and mold design, sampling, & monitoring
  • Hydrostatic test water sampling, monitoring, & reporting

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Making decisions independently regarding environmental complexities and methods
  • Analyzing data, reports, maps, drawings, tests, etc., to plan, design, and implement projects
  • Completing initial preparations of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, and designs for projects
  • Assisting in the assembly of pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects
  • FOLLOWING standards of practice such as ASTM, OSHA, NYSICR-56, NYSDEC, and USEPA Regulations
  • ADHERING to company and client QA/QC standards
  • Providing quality control to draft documents and drawings
  • Working with project designers to determine the environmental impact of projects
  • COORDINATING and collaborating with other design and technical professionals who are part of the project team
  • Performing field inspections, research, measurements, well monitoring, operations & maintenance of remedial equipment, and sample collection
  • COORDINATING submission of lab samples
  • Completing client-specific safety training as required
  • Attending client meetings as required
  • Providing Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and investigations
  • Conducting asbestos inspections and quantifications
  • Conducting EPA and state-regulated mold inspections and quantifications
  • MAY serve as on-site project representative
  • Establishing & maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, support, and build others on the team and across disciplines/offices
  • Being responsive to others and sharing information to improve efficiency and help others achieve goals; listening and engaging in productive and critical debate
  • Suggesting new ideas and processes; staying informed of developments in practice areas; viewing obstacles as opportunities

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or Science or a related field from an accredited university
  • At least 2 years of experience in Environmental Engineering or an applicable technical field
  • Experience with asbestos & contamination preferred
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred
  • 8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification helpful
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety & Health Standards for Construction preferred
  • NYSDOL ACM Inspector Certification helpful
  • Willingness to undertake training as necessary to fill environmental needs
  • Technical writing skills preferred

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year

Location: Albany, NY
