Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the accounting team at Child, Inc., responsible for ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of all accounting tasks. This role requires a strong analytical mind and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting duties, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Identify errors and suggest improvements to efficiency and spending.
  • Provide technical support and advice on accounting matters.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process.
  • Provide input into department's goal setting process.
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Assist with month-end close and board report preparation.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including account reconciliations.
  • Monitor Accounts Payable and Purchasing, ensuring proper coding.
  • Process direct deposit payments.
  • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes.
  • Process and issue annual W-2 forms to employees.
  • Properly code payroll within the general ledger.
  • Assist with payroll coding and recoding throughout the year.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; experience with Abila, is preferred.
  • Ability to accept assignments, follow procedures, and work without constant supervision.
  • Must have the ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
