Job Summary:

The Career Advisor will provide career coaching and advising to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni, helping them explore career options, develop job search strategies, and prepare for professional development. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and employers to establish relationships and provide a link to the world of work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coach and advise students on career exploration, resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, and job search strategies.
  • Assist students in selecting academic majors and related careers.
  • Facilitate classroom presentations and activities on career development and professional development topics.
  • Support and promote career programs and events offered by Career Services.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in career development.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree required; or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in Career Services, Advising, Residence Life, Enrollment Management, or other student-related areas in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employer recruitment strategies, job market trends, occupational, career, and employment information sources.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of full-time experience providing career counseling, coaching, and advising or related student services experience in a college/university setting.
  • Ability to interact with all members of the student, staff, and faculty population.
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, academic personnel, employers, and alumni.
  • Experience and proficiency with incorporating technology to deliver services.
