Key Responsibilities

Enhance the quality of life for residents, clients, members, employees, and guests by maintaining a clean and organized environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the grounds, including mowing lawns, pruning hedges, shrubs, trees, and gardens; edging walkways; and watering.
  • Cleaning grounds, garden paths, and walkways, and removing litter on a daily basis.
  • Applying fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides to the grounds at designated intervals.
  • Testing and repairing the irrigation system as necessary.
  • Implementing special landscaping or planting projects as directed.
  • Clearing drainage ditches and culverts.
  • Emptying external rubbish containers.
  • Operating equipment such as gas-powered lawn mowers, weed whackers, blowers, pruners, trimmers, pressure washers, and other tools while ensuring safety at all times.
  • Performing regular maintenance and minor repairs on grounds equipment and tools.
  • Participating in emergency drills and responding to situations such as fires, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Manual.
  • Ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal safety regulations.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education/Experience: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current driver's license and a clear driver's abstract are required.

Physical Demands: The role requires regular walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, talking or hearing, and tasting or smelling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: Employees may be exposed to the following conditions:

  • Moving mechanical parts;
  • Outdoor environments in all types of weather;
  • Hazardous materials;
  • Loud noise levels.
