Maintenance Worker Job Description

Job Summary:

Community Wellness Partners is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance functions, repairs, and replacements of defective parts. You will also be responsible for operating fire alarm systems, extinguishers, and other building safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance functions such as painting, repairs, and replacements of defective parts.
  • Operate fire alarm systems, extinguishers, and other building safety systems.
  • Remove and replace components and troubleshoot areas needed for repair.
  • Lubricate, clean, or adjust basic parts and equipment.
  • Set up and use drill presses, bench saws, and hand-operated electrical tools and safety guards.
  • Remove snow from walks, fire exits, steps, driveways, and parking areas.
  • Run errands within and outside of the facility.
  • Transport residents to and from outside activities when necessary.
  • Assist in trash and garbage collection, incineration, and/or removal from the buildings.
  • Conduct periodic maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain grounds, including lawns, shrubs, and trees when needed.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance on scheduled equipment.
  • Work other shifts as directed.
  • Attend all safety-related in-service classes as required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Community Wellness Partner's Safety Program.

Personal Requirements:

  • Appropriate professional attire as required by CWP dress code.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
    • Subject to frequent interruptions.
    • Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personal.
    • Communicates with other departments.
    • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be in good health, be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, angry people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
