Job Summary

The Smithsonian Institution's Office of Advancement seeks a highly skilled Data Quality Specialist to join its Advancement Technology Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for data and continuous improvement to play a key role in building support for the world's largest museum and research complex.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve data issues in a timely and accurate manner, including determining duplicate records, identifying deceased constituents, and determining relationships between constituents.
  • Maintain advancement data interactively, through interfaces/loads, and through other scripted and automated processes.
  • Collaborate with business users across the Smithsonian Institution and with developers to improve data collection and maintenance processes.
  • Participate in identifying and correcting data exceptions.
  • Leverage insights from current data processes to inform the development of the new Institutional CRM (Salesforce Non-Profit Cloud) and validate the implementation of those processes.
  • Identify tasks that are repetitive and do not require review of individual records, support existing legacy automated procedures, and collaborate with business users and developers to establish automated processes in the new CRM.
  • Perform both scheduled and ad hoc generation of reports.
  • Work closely with the Data Quality Manager to develop, document, and implement best practices and continuously improve data management processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience maintaining data in large and complex databases.
  • Experience with fundraising as a business and Ellucian Advance or Salesforce is preferred.
  • Passion for operational excellence and data quality.
  • Experience in Salesforce CRM.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, including SQL or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of best practices in data quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data quality management tools, including Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Proficiency with online research tools and sophisticated web searching.
