The Murphy Law Firm is seeking a proficient Family Law Attorney to enhance our legal team. This full-time role necessitates active membership in the Maryland Bar and the ability to waive into the District of Columbia Bar. Compensation:

$120,000 - $130,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with paralegals and senior attorneys to facilitate efficient progress through the civil litigation process.
  • Maintain organized and updated client files.
  • Advocate for clients by understanding their needs, analyzing situations, and formulating strategic action plans.
  • Represent clients in court as necessary.
  • Oversee the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
  • Provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Manage cases from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant issues.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare clients and cases for trial.
  • Advise staff on legal matters and interpret applicable laws.
  • Engage with clients and collaborate with experts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Handle sensitive legal issues such as child custody and domestic violence with care and professionalism.
  • Maintain composure and negotiate effectively in high-stress situations.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Family Law litigation is required.
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in Maryland or D.C. is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Proficient in time management and critical thinking.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficient in negotiation and persuasion techniques.
  • Innovative thinking is highly valued.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Family Law and Estate Planning is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MyCase (case management system) is a plus.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills are advantageous.
