The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Human Services Specialist to join our team. As a Human Services Specialist, you will be responsible for providing lead work for the Social Services Aides within the agency.
Work involves providing information to clients and acting as a liaison for the families in locating services within the community. Employees may be called upon to assist clients with concrete needs such as transportation, parent support, and accessing community services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing lead work for the Social Services Aides within the agency
- Providing information to clients and acting as a liaison for the families in locating services within the community
- Assisting clients with concrete needs such as transportation, parent support, and accessing community services
- Scheduling appointments and necessary follow-up visits
- Preparing reports and correspondence
- Preparing documents and providing testimony in court under supervision pertaining to visits
- Making referrals to other public and private social service organizations, community agencies, and resources to meet the child's needs
- Assisting children, youth, and their families in understanding and utilizing resources
- Linking families to services
- Acting as point of contact for emergency requests and coordinating work so as to assure emergency
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Requirements:
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
