Job Summary

This position is responsible for setting up machines and performing preventive maintenance on all production equipment, as well as providing continuous improvement to the preventive maintenance process.

Work Schedule

12-hour shift (6 am - 6 pm/6 pm - 6 am)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform setups on machines in a timely manner, cleaning them prior to setups and inspecting them as a preventive maintenance measure.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on machines when necessary.
  3. Perform minor electrical testing, such as changing fuses and fixing broken wires.
  4. Respond to machine problems throughout the plant, diagnosing issues and performing minor repairs and adjustments as quickly as possible to avoid production delays.
  5. Read job recaps thoroughly and check jobs for accuracy, reporting any errors or discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
  6. Maintain production standards, reporting any production, quality, or safety problems to the supervisor immediately.
  7. Contact the parts department to obtain new parts and return old parts, filling out all appropriate logs to ensure maintenance of accurate parts inventory.
  8. Keep machine parts cabinets up-to-date.
  9. Assist in training new mechanics and setup operators.
  10. Move to other areas or perform other duties as directed by supervision.
  11. Comply with company rules and regulations.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
  13. Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce costs and/or improve operating efficiency of the department.
  14. Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  15. Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in machine repair or equivalent

Competencies

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools, such as standard and metric wrenches and sockets, screwdrivers, electric meters and testers, saws, drills, electric sander/grinder, and machine shop tools.
  • Experience with standard and advanced tools.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to comprehend parts/operator manuals.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to read schematics and prints.
  • Ability to read, follow, and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Ability to run and adjust machines.
