Academic Site-Based Medical Director for Internal Medicine

We are seeking a Full-time Internal Medicine Physician with leadership experience or a desire to lead for the Site-Based Medical Director role at Myers Park Internal Medicine in Charlotte, NC.

Atrium Health has large ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Programs. Myers Park Internal Medicine is the primary academic training ground for ambulatory work for residents in our Charlotte-based Internal Medicine Program. This unique practice provides comprehensive care as a certified patient-centered medical home primarily to a vulnerable patient population with both medical and social/economic complexities.

Myers Park Internal Medicine is a teaching facility and community clinic. It is part of a large integrated physician network with access to system-level resources across the care continuum. Ideal candidates will be passionate about caring for underserved, medically complex patients within a practice that embodies diversity of race, culture, ethnicity, and language. A patient-centered focus is the heart of the practice; collegiality, professionalism, and compassion are values of greatest importance.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time Faculty Role: Site-Based Medical Director
  • Join a team of 8 physicians, 2 APPs, and 54 Residents, and Staff
  • Minimum of 70% ambulatory clinical (continuity + precepting), 10% administration, remaining 20% negotiable for academic/research interests
  • Monday–Friday 7:45am- 5:00pm
  • APP supervision responsibilities
  • Work closely with Clinic leadership team- Practice Manager, Nursing Supervisor, and Clerical Manager for excellent patient care provision
  • Clinical responsibilities will include patient care at the Myers Park Internal Medicine practice, along with precepting Internal Medicine residents and medical students
  • Faculty responsibilities will include; Evaluating residents and students, serving as an advisor for residents, and developing relevant curricula. Research is optional but encouraged.
  • Opportunity to do typical outpatient procedures like, benign lesion removals, joint injections, etc.

  • Located less than 2 blocks from our main hospital, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Uptown Charlotte

  • Embedded care team support (RN Care Managers, MSWs, CHWs, Diabetes Educator, PharmD)
  • On-site x-ray, lab, pharmacy & interpreter services
