Job Summary

As an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Southern Mississippi, you will play a vital role in facilitating students' achievement of course objectives and preparing them to build knowledge and master skill sets to move forward through the program.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Teaching and Course Management: Adhere to the class schedules as posted, communicate course requirements to students, and be available to students during a required number of office hours.
  2. Collaboration and Planning: Collaborate with other School of Marketing Faculty, as well as the Director, to plan, implement, and evaluate each course offering taught to maintain quality and effectiveness.
  3. Professional Development: Follow the policies and procedures of the School of Marketing, the College of Business and Economic Development, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
  4. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in the discipline in which you will be teaching.
  • A master's degree (or equivalent) with at least 18 hours of graduate classes in the discipline in which you will be teaching.
  • A master's degree (or equivalent) in a related field and substantial professional experience in the area in which you will be teaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Candidates must have earned 18 graduate hours or have significant and documented work experience in the teaching field.
  • The ability to deliver accurate, concise, and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other faculty in the unit.
  • The ability to navigate and use learning management systems for teaching, such as Canvas, as well as other technological communications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in teaching strategies and techniques for diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented success in teaching at the University level.
  • Experience teaching online and using Canvas.
  • Quality matters certification.
