Maintenance Technician Event Staff

Job Summary

This role is responsible for providing maintenance support and knowledge of facility operations in the motorsports industry. The successful candidate will work in a high-energy environment at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance the aesthetics of the facility, including refurbishing assets, repainting, and rebuilding to keep the facility in top operational condition.
  • Inspect and repair plumbing, HVAC, interior and exterior of buildings, parking lots, and other areas as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on department assets to ensure efficiency and extend life.
  • Provide emergency assistance for inoperative vehicles or equipment when needed.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance and routine service inspection programs.
  • Operate and maintain owned or rented equipment and tools.
  • Assist with event operations for large and small events held at the facility and work events as needed.
  • Manage trade personnel, such as plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, to complete projects.
  • Follow safety practices and identify potential safety hazards or occupational hazards, implementing systems and safeguards to ensure a hazard-free workplace.
  • Assist the department with general facility maintenance and construction projects.
  • Fulfill work orders and requests for maintaining the facility's needs.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Utilize computer skills, such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Knowledge and ability to operate mowing equipment, fork trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, tractors, jet dryers, and lifts.
  • Skills to weld, construct/carpentry work, and wrench.
  • Attention to detail.
Work Environment

Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Drive motorized vehicles to travel to different locations both on and off the facility. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required as needed.
