Supervisory Medical Records Technician

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Medical Records Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Health Information Management Section, you will be responsible for supervising, managing, and directing the activities of our Release of Information Unit and File Room staff.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of patient protected health information (PHI), providing exceptional customer service to our Veterans and third-party requestors, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal laws and regulations, including the Privacy Act of 1974, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
You will also be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures, conducting training and performance evaluations, and ensuring that all staff members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage the activities of the Release of Information Unit and File Room staff
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of patient protected health information (PHI)
- Provide exceptional customer service to our Veterans and third-party requestors
- Develop and implement policies and procedures
- Conduct training and performance evaluations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal laws and regulations
- One year of creditable experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07)
- Ability to develop policy and provide workload analysis for release of information
- Skill in interpersonal relations and conflict resolution
- Ability to provide or coordinate staff development and training
- Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties
