In this role, you will be responsible for various functions depending on departmental assignments, which may include preregistration, patient registration, verification of payer information, referrals for financial counseling, and collection of payments at the point of service.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurate and timely collection and entry of patient demographic and insurance information into the system.
  • Verification of eligibility and limitations of benefits.
  • Coordination of benefits for patients.
  • Assessment and collection of financial responsibilities from patients at the time of service.

Compliance with regulatory standards, including medical necessity assessments, Medicare Secondary Payer processes, and adherence to HIPAA and EMTALA regulations is essential.

Strong communication skills are crucial for providing exceptional customer service to patients, their families, healthcare providers, and colleagues.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate Degree in healthcare or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Access is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are desirable.
  • Prior experience in hospital or medical office patient access or financial services is preferred.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain certification as a Certified Patient Access Associate (CHAA) through the National Association of Healthcare Access Managers (NAHAM).

Additional skills include:

  • Analytical problem-solving and basic math abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Dependability in attendance and productivity.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of customers.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, commercial, and managed care payers is preferred.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 50 WPM.

Understanding of organizational workflows and procedures is beneficial.
