Job Overview

As a Senior Information Security Engineer at SmartThings, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our innovative IoT ecosystem. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the security and privacy of our users while collaborating with various teams to drive strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with partner teams to provide security and privacy insights that align with strategic goals.
  • Evaluate and audit the security and compliance posture of our cloud platform against a variety of internal and external risk and regulatory frameworks.
  • Design and implement robust security measures for cloud-based and distributed systems.
  • Ensure that security controls and requirements are clearly understood and that secure development practices are adopted, empowering engineers to perform their roles effectively.
  • Assess the adequacy and efficiency of existing security measures and propose enhancements as necessary.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in security operations or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, techniques, and technologies.
  • Experience in developing and recommending security controls.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as PCI, ISO, HIPAA, etc.
  • Ability to devise system security strategies in a fast-paced, engineering-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of various security and cloud technologies.
  • Experience integrating security capabilities into development pipelines and continuous integration processes.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in scripting or programming.
  • Experience in configuring, hardening, and evaluating technical resources.
  • Understanding of IoT and wireless communication protocols (WiFi, Zigbee, Z-Wave).
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, Networking, Security Hub, Inspector, etc.).
  • Experience with security tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, Wireshark, etc.
