Role Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is accountable for delivering patient care within the parameters of their training and expertise. This role involves collaboration with various healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and the achievement of optimal health outcomes.

Work Schedule:

PRN hours as required

Department Insights:

Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is part of the Vanderbilt Health network, which includes a variety of hospitals and clinics. Responsibilities may extend to Women's Health, Orthopedic, and Urology clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Registered Nurses with gathering medical histories.
  • Perform tasks within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Administer direct patient care, including medication delivery, treatments, and IV initiation as permitted.
  • Follow established practices and policies to ensure patient safety and adhere to infection control standards.

Technical Skills:

  • Clinical Documentation (Novice): Demonstrates fundamental proficiency in patient documentation, working under supervision to complete assignments accurately.
  • Patient Education (Novice): Shows basic ability to provide patient education under guidance.
  • Care Planning (Novice): Engages in developing care plans in collaboration with licensed healthcare professionals, effectively managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing patient needs.
  • Clinical Competency (Novice): Exhibits fundamental skills in nursing interventions such as wound care and vital signs measurement.

Experience:
