Job Summary

The Shelly Company, a CRH company, is seeking a skilled Rail Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our rail yard operations, you will be responsible for assisting the Rail Manager with daily production duties, including operating a loader to unload rail cars and performing other miscellaneous plant or rail yard related functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload product from railcars at various company facilities.
  • Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including frontend loaders and skid steer loaders, safely and efficiently.
  • Perform general labor, shoveling, and equipment maintenance as needed.
  • May perform welding and fabrication duties as required.
  • Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
  • Follow directions and adhere to OSHA & MSHA regulations.
Requirements
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Adhere to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents, perform routine paperwork, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 105 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
