Job Title: Early Childhood Professional - Part-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Professional to join our team at the Glencoe Park District. As a Preschool Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in the daily activities of our half-day preschool program for children ages 2-5 years old.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher with lesson planning and implementation.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep of the classroom, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist children in clean-up activities and maintain cleaning charts.
- Assist with carline pick-up and drop-off.
- Supervise all activities to ensure safety and well-being.
- Interact directly with children throughout the day, promoting good nutrition habits and emotional development.
- Participate in activities leading to professional growth in child development.
- Maintain prompt hours and notify the manager in case of illness.
- Ensure compliance with all DCFS policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Follow all policies of the center and the Glencoe Park District.
- Attend staff meetings, school functions, and complete assigned duties.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must meet all necessary DCFS qualifications, including a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and be at least 19 years of age or older. College coursework, including 6 hours in Early Childhood Education, and experience in a DCFS-licensed classroom are required. CPR Certification and Child Development Associate Certification are preferred. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to assist in the planning and supervision of activities promoting healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development in each child. Shall use developmentally appropriate discipline methods. Shall possess good oral and written communication skills. The assistant teacher shall develop and contribute to a harmonious work environment within the center. Shall display emotional maturity when working with children, parents, and staff. Should show respect and cooperation towards children, co-workers, and parents. The teacher assistant is expected to display a warm, nurturing, and cheerful personality.
