Key Responsibilities:

Primary Role

The Senior Transaction Tax Analyst will oversee transaction tax compliance and accounting for Constellation's retail operations. This role encompasses compliance processes for various entities, multi-state sales and use tax audits, monthly accounting reconciliations, and analysis of tax law changes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of transaction tax filings and associated documentation, including sales and use tax, gross receipts taxes, business licenses, and other relevant indirect taxes.
  • Assist in state and local indirect tax audits, providing support to tax management in articulating and defending the company's tax positions to government auditors.
  • Conduct research and evaluate tax law changes that may affect customer billing and procurement, recommending necessary adjustments to integrate these changes into company operations.
  • Review customer exemption statuses and ensure the accuracy of taxable products, communicating necessary updates and ensuring timely adjustments in relevant systems.
  • Contribute to technology initiatives aimed at automating transaction tax compliance processes and overseeing the implementation of these projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related financial discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years focused on transaction tax compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal and state transaction tax regulations.
  • Understanding of the implications of taxes on financial statements.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional education, with 40 hours of annual continuing education required at the company's expense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy or utility sector is advantageous, although a broad range of experience is valued.
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant designation or other financial certifications, as well as an advanced degree (MST) is preferred.
