The Software division at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is in search of a Senior Principal Software Engineer - Database Administrator to be based out of Pt Mugu, CA, in proximity to our Camarillo, CA facility. Join a diverse and expanding team in a coastal environment.

If you are a seasoned Database Administrator or have a background in Software Development with the capability to design, develop, and manage intricate databases utilizing tools such as SQL, we encourage your interest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in an Agile work environment.
  • Ensure the seamless operation of databases.
  • Perform performance tuning of indexes and databases.
  • Review database design and system integration, provide backup recovery, and suggest enhancements or improvements.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and standards related to database management.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team of motivated system/network administrators, software developers, and mission planners.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4+ years of experience is required.
  • Expertise in systems and database management.
  • Proficient in designing, developing, and managing complex databases using SQL or similar database languages.
  • Knowledge of database management best practices.
  • Experience in implementing database schema architectures, including the coding and design of stored procedures, foreign keys, and table relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills in a collaborative environment.
  • US Citizenship and must have Interim Secret clearance prior to starting. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a containerized environment with Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction across various NGC sites and with customers.
  • Familiarity with high-level programming languages such as C#, C++, PowerShell, VBA, etc.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps / TFS and Git.

Salary Range: $133,000 - $199,600
