Early Childhood Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teaching Assistant to join our team at the George Mason University Child Development Center. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to our young students.

About the Position:

We have multiple part-time positions available in Twos, Preschool, and Pre-K. Our program offers play-based, NAEYC accredited educational experiences for children ages 2-5 years of age. We prioritize social-emotional development in support of all areas of growth through open-ended child-centered exploration, both indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports daily care and education of each child in accordance with Mason's CDC philosophy and values, as well as all licensing guidelines and NAEYC criteria;
  • Communicates directly with parents to establish and maintain family partnerships in the best interest of each child; and
  • Helps maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean, organized, developmentally appropriate and engaging with the guidance of Lead and Assistant Teachers.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience working in a licensed childcare facility or school;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Some coursework in early childhood education or child development preferred; and
  • Background check clearance and TB risk assessment.
