Nursing Attendant-Centralized Nursing Service-Night Shift

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant-Centralized Nursing Service-Night Shift to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in implementation of the nursing process by performing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients.
- Maintain an orderly and safe patient care environment and unit.
- Orient patient to hospital environment.
- Prepare bedside unit to receive patients.
- Escort patient as necessary and remain with the patient until he/she has left the building.
- Assist patients by preparing utensils and food items.
- Change linen in accordance with policy and as necessary.
- Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric and other drainage onto I&O record (form or electronic).
- Empty drainage bags.
- Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, per policy and as directed.
- Establish effective, caring relationships with staff, patients, family and other members of the health care team.
- Maintain competence through in-service and educational programs.
- Attend staff meetings and reviews/signs minutes of meetings not attended.
- Maintain a safe and uncluttered environment of care in patient rooms including removing excessive furniture, supplies and equipment.
- Assist with supply and equipment management of patient, procedure and supply rooms per department standards.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic Life Support Cert.
