We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant to join our team in the Centralized Nursing Service department, working night shifts. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining patient safety.
- Conduct patient rounds to ensure toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and personal needs are met.
- Provide basic hygiene services, including bathing, AM/PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair care, nail and foot care, and shaving.
- Prepare patients for meals, including clearing overbed tables and positioning patients correctly for eating or tube feedings.
- Perform and/or assist patients with simple treatments, such as removing and reapplying SCD wraps, assisting with enema procedures, and collecting specimens as directed by the RN.
- Assist with moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients, as well as removing and securing patient personal items prior to procedures.
- Change linen in accordance with policy and as necessary.
- Take and electronically record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, and respiration, and report abnormalities to the RN.
- Weigh patients and electronically record on admission, as ordered, and/or as directed by the RN.
- Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric, and other drainage onto the I&O record (form or electronic).
- Perform post-mortem care and safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, per policy and as directed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months relevant experience.
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) required upon entry to the position.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
