Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician to join our team at AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation. As a key member of our Ambulatory Pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of prescriptions, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and restock pharmacy supplies, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of medications to patients.
  • Process prescription payments, maintaining accurate records and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Pack, ship, and track medications, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing errors.
  • Update Specialty Pharmacy maintenance logs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Enter necessary prescription plan information into the patient profile, facilitating efficient processing and adjudication of patient prescriptions.
  • Enter new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Address insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues, communicating effectively with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy, contributing to the team's success.
  • Retrieve and prepare medications for pharmacist review and verification, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review, facilitating informed purchasing decisions.
  • Submit, receive, and place inventory in stock, maintaining accurate records and minimizing errors.
  • Answer inbound telephone calls, triaging calls as necessary and directing them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Assist with the review and handling of adjudicated prescription claims, ensuring appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials.
  • Assist pharmacists by providing required information for therapeutic consults with patients, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  • Intervene with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing errors.
  • Actively participate in delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, contributing to the team's success and growth.
Requirements
  • Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree program preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification required.
  • State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies are equal to or better than national certification requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve patient issues quickly and creatively, improving customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services, and drug interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Good analytical skills.
