Responsibilities

The duties of the Specialized Nursing Care Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting assessments and triaging patients seeking non-urgent care.
  • Performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks.
  • Providing clinical leadership within Specialty Care Clinics.
  • Administering therapeutic interventions such as medications and intravenous fluids.
  • Maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge through continuing education and participation in nursing committees.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
  • Documenting observations, nursing interventions, and relevant patient data.
  • Demonstrating leadership and innovative management of complex patient care.
  • Serving as a clinical resource to mentor and support staff.
  • Organizing and prioritizing workflow to optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Evaluating compliance with standards of practice and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives and customer service programs.
  • Adhering to all Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, along with VHA directives.

Conditions of Employment

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Proficiency in English is required for direct patient care positions.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is necessary.
  • Current, unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory is required.
Physical Requirements:
This position demands visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. It may involve prolonged periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, and transferring patients. The incumbent may encounter infectious patients and materials, necessitating protective clothing in certain situations. The ability to manage stress and adapt to changing priorities is essential.
