We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Review Specialist to join our team at the City of New York. As a Claims Review Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing claims for potential SNAP benefit overpayments.
Key Responsibilities- Review and process claims for potential SNAP benefit overpayments using USDA/FNS/OTDA SNAP benefit rules for eligibility and claim development.
- Determine the overpayment start date, claim period, claim type, and claim amount using the application of SNAP benefit rules and retrospective budgeting.
- Complete claim packets and process manual/electronic paperwork for manual collections on closed SNAP claims.
- Initiate actions to implement IPV sanctions, lift IPV sanctions, or process FH decisions/packets on claim cases.
- Obtain collateral information/documentation as needed and prepare electronic and paper eligibility forms following the review of information sources.
- Completion of 30 semester credits at an accredited college or university, or a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in one or more of the following areas: interviewing, gathering information, preparing documentation, bookkeeping, customer service, or dealing with social service agencies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
