About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Corporate Counsel to join our legal team at Ascend Wellness Holdings, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled attorney with experience in corporate law and regulatory compliance to contribute to the growth and success of our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with various corporate governance matters, including board meetings, resolutions, and compliance with bylaws and other corporate documentation.
  • Monitor, interpret, and advise on applicable cannabis regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including supply agreements, licensing agreements, partnership agreements, real estate leases, and vendor & service contracts.
  • Advising on employment policies and procedures, employee relations issues, and workforce compliance.
  • Work closely with HR to address labor law concerns, including wage and hour compliance, workplace safety, and anti-discrimination practices.
  • Collaborate with Compliance to ensure the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect and enforce the company's trademarks and other intellectual property assets.
  • Support the EVP, Legal with certain pre-litigation disputes and coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, when necessary.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with at least 1 year in a corporate or in-house role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving industry.

What We Offer

This is a salaried position with an estimated annual salary of $120,000-$150,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively across departments and with outside counsel to address legal, regulatory, and compliance challenges. The selected candidate must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
