Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled mid-level Electrical Engineer to become a vital part of our Building Engineering Division, specifically within the Energy & Commissioning team. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, with occasional travel to our main offices.

About the Team

The Energy & Commissioning team at LaBella Associates specializes in providing extensive consultancy, design, and commissioning services focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy. Our work encompasses feasibility studies, project design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring a comprehensive approach to energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and development of distribution and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including DC and AC circuit distribution, raceways, switchboard and transformer sizing, as well as MV equipment and protection systems.
  • Ensure project compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC) standards.
  • Specification, selection, and review of equipment and materials.
  • Conduct design calculations and selections.
  • Collaborate with junior engineers to create and review project drawings and documentation.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to manage and complete project designs.
  • Provide construction phase services, including submittal reviews and site visits to monitor project progress.
  • Conduct post-project completion inspections.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Preferred: At least 3 years of experience in the solar photovoltaic sector.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
  • Possession of a New York State Professional Engineer's license is advantageous.
  • Experience with solar/interconnection-related software is required, including:
    • PVSyst (or similar) for energy production modeling;
    • eTap power analysis (or similar);
    • PVCase (or similar) CAD design is desirable.
