Job Overview:
- Provide specialized knowledge in public health nutrition
- Disseminate information on research findings and effective practices
- Act as a liaison between state and national organizations and federal agencies that formulate national nutrition guidelines
- Assist in the preparation of reports, plans, and documentation on nutrition programs and public health objectives, utilizing data, benchmarks, and measurable outcomes
- Offer consultation to various programs and offices in crafting public health messages that promote the importance of nutrition and healthy eating
- Share insights on national prevention guidelines, current scientific findings, and trends regarding nutrition as a critical component of health and wellness
- Provide guidance on effective prevention strategies in nutrition for community and statewide initiatives
- Support the coordination, planning, organization, facilitation, and evaluation of workgroups, presentations, workshops, symposiums, materials, and training focused on system change, policy, and procedures related to nutrition programs and projects
- Aid in the development and maintenance of partnerships with external lead agencies to enhance nutrition education
Position Requirements:
- Experience in policy, systems, or environmental change related to healthy food access and nutrition
- Proven track record of establishing partnerships with key stakeholders in Hawaii focused on healthy food access initiatives
- Experience in facilitating meetings with participants from diverse backgrounds, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the education sector
- Ability to comprehend and interpret federal nutrition guidelines
