Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Manager to oversee the management of all aspects of aquatics, athletic, and recreation programs, as well as community special events. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supervising and coordinating staff, planning and managing programs and events, and preparing and monitoring budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Aquatics, Community events, Recreation, Tennis and other assigned divisions and personnel, including hiring, training, developing, and scheduling of staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures, assess and monitor workload, administrative and support functions, and internal reporting relationships, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain harmony among staff and resolve conflicts/grievances, assist subordinates in understanding/performing duties, adjust procedures as needed, coordinate internal and external work teams, and address errors and complaints.
  • Effectively manage operations, programs, and marketing through proper allocation of staff, equipment, and budget, create, maintain, and be accountable for accurate records, expenditure and revenue budgets, and cash handling.
  • Conduct revenue collection by ensuring guests pay published and City Council-approved fees, setting up the system when fees are collected, checking for accuracy, balancing cash drawer, training staff to collect fees, and preparation of deposits, and abiding by City cash handling policies.
  • Manage and participate in the development and administration of the budgets of assigned divisions.
  • Oversee all fiscal areas and performance of assigned divisions.
  • Produce programs and special events from conception to completion.
  • Responsible for the organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of all aspects of activities, events, and programs.
  • Maximize planning and best practices to ensure success of such activities.
  • Maximize revenue production through creative programming, sponsorships, grants, and quality control.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the Parks and Recreation industry.
  • Responsible for all marketing initiatives for the assigned divisions, department in general, and other marketing tasks as assigned to ensure maximum media coverage and community engagement.
  • Responsible for the department Activity Guide, updating department website, and all other marketing material including social media.
  • Monitor and ensure safety of staff and participants involved in programs, events, and/or using facilities.
  • Create and maintain emergency inclement weather and safety procedures and systems.
