Service Manager Job Description

Carter Machinery Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Service Manager to lead our team in Elkridge, Maryland. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating customer service activities, ensuring effective communications, and developing and growing business through the management of service to achieve targeted sales and gross profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate customer service activities to evaluate and maintain good customer relations.
  • Service accounts in a timely manner, resolving complaints, and ensuring effective communications.
  • Develop and grow business through the management of service to achieve targeted sales and gross profit margins.
  • Monitor and control service expenses to ensure income is maintained at the highest possible percentage.
  • Administer all company safety policies and training according to established procedures.
  • Oversee staff, conduct performance evaluations, training, and development of staff.
  • Seek candidates with previous experience leading and managing teams in a service industry.
Requirements:
  • Dedicated self-starter with proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer; able to adapt to changing technology.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, quickly evaluate facts, and maintain good judgment when making decisions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by identifying and resolving problems promptly.
  • Effectively manage work in process by ensuring work orders are closed in accordance with established time-lines.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Physical Requirements:

The Service Manager must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight, and have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Starting Compensation Range: $82,500-$100,000.
