We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our vascular imaging department, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients with vascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic evaluations of patients using vascular ultrasound equipment, conducting physiological assessments and measurements, including vital signs.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to accurately identify and assess vascular structures, documenting findings and communicating results to the healthcare team.
- Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct patient clinical assessments and perform diagnostic medical sonography examinations ordered by supervising physicians in accordance with facility protocols.
- Apply independent judgment during sonography examinations to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in examination images.
- Acquire additional ultrasound imaging as necessary to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for interpreting physicians.
- Review examination images, synthesize examination results, and prepare preliminary reports for providers.
- Ensure reports are complete and accurate with all billing requirements.
- Adhere to all requirements for IAC accreditation, including quality assurance reviews.
- Assist with the daily operation of a high-paced vascular surgery practice.
- Assist in prioritizing assigned work based on workflow fluctuations.
- Associate's degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field within 3 months of hire, or completion of a 12-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
- Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible and become registered within one year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work and prosper in a team environment.
