Certified Medical Assistant Role Overview

As a Certified Medical Assistant at Huggins Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care. Your commitment to treating patients with dignity and confidentiality will be essential in fostering a welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Duties:
  • Accurately document patient histories and primary concerns.
  • Conduct various tests including phlebotomy, EKGs, and rapid screenings.
  • Assist in minor medical procedures such as suturing and dressing changes.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
  • Collaborate with Care Coordination to address patient needs.
  • Conduct nurse visits for specific patient requirements.
  • Patient Interaction:
  • Manage incoming and outgoing patient communications.
  • Schedule appointments and handle patient orders efficiently.
  • Clinical Support Tasks:
  • Engage in pre-visit planning and chart preparation.
  • Prepare examination rooms, greet patients, and maintain medical equipment.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Usage
  • Utilize EMR systems to follow Best Practice Workflows.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient medical histories.
  • Complete daily tasks to provide timely patient care.
Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in the medical field or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
