Job Responsibilities:

The Rotor Wing Pilot is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to designated facilities within an operational area.

This role requires adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines, alongside a thorough understanding of Air Methods policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Operating Air Methods aircraft safely and legally.
  • Conducting pre-flight inspections to confirm the aircraft's airworthiness.
  • Performing a comprehensive walk-around of the aircraft before and after each flight.
  • Maintaining final authority over aircraft operations and ensuring the safety of passengers and cargo.
  • Familiarizing with all aircraft and medical systems utilized in the operational area.
  • Completing necessary documentation accurately.
  • Engaging in detailed flight planning with minimal notice.
  • Participating in company meetings, projects, and community outreach.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

Regular attendance is essential for this position, and all employees must adhere to Air Methods' employment practices and policies.


Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years of age.

Skills and Experience:

Applicants must have recent flight experience within the last 24 months, possess strong interpersonal skills, and maintain a professional working environment.

Required flight times include:

  • 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 hours in category.
  • 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time and 100 hours of night flight time.
  • 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions.

Certifications:

Commercial & Instrument Rating for the relevant aircraft category is required, along with a First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
