Position Overview:
The Educational Support Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the instructional experience within a designated classroom. This position is responsible for assisting individual students and small groups, while also providing essential clerical support to educators and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Adaptation of Learning Materials:** Modify classroom activities, assignments, and resources (e.g., art projects, computer tasks, language exercises) to support and reinforce educational objectives.
2. **Classroom Assistance:** Facilitate lesson assignments for the purpose of aiding teachers in the educational process.
3. **Student Support:** Assist students, either individually or in small groups, with lesson tasks (e.g., reading stories, writing support, reinforcing language skills, numeracy, and computer learning programs) to help them achieve academic goals and meet grade-level standards.
4. **Communication with Educators:** Collaborate with teachers to evaluate student progress and implement classroom objectives effectively.
5. **Maintenance of Classroom Environment:** Ensure the upkeep of classroom equipment, work areas, and both manual and electronic records (e.g., cleaning tables, maintaining sign-in logs) to provide a safe and organized learning environment.
6. **Monitoring Students:** Supervise individual and groups of students in various settings (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure a secure and positive educational atmosphere.
7. **Clerical Duties:** Perform general clerical tasks (e.g., laminating, creating posters, copying materials, organizing bulletin boards, filing, and preparing newsletters) to assist teachers in preparing instructional resources.
8. **Reporting:** Document observations and incidents related to specific students (e.g., accidents, behavioral issues, safety concerns) to communicate pertinent information to appropriate educational and administrative personnel.
9. **Additional Responsibilities:** Carry out other assigned duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, along with one of the following:
- Tier 1: Completion of at least 48 college credit hours; passing the OGET test; or achieving a passing score on the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment Test (minimum score of 455) or the Workkeys Assessment (minimum score of 4 on all three parts).
- Tier 2 (Special Education): In addition to Tier 1, a special education paraprofessional must complete OSDE special education training, CPR/First Aid certification, and annual professional development hours. A Tier 2 Certification from OSDE is also required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Must possess adequate manual dexterity for legible writing and computer tasks, as well as visual acuity for reading and interpreting written materials. Requires normal hearing range and clear speaking abilities for effective communication. Physical tasks may include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, bending, and stretching. Prolonged sitting may be necessary, and occasional work outside normal hours may be required.

Work Environment:
