Position Overview:
The Ground Support Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing issues and executing repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role includes mentoring junior technicians on troubleshooting and resolving simpler maintenance challenges, as well as inspecting and validating completed maintenance tasks. The technician will utilize technical documents, wiring diagrams, and schematics to address repair issues, and will employ automated maintenance data systems to track maintenance patterns, assess equipment needs, maintain records, and document repair activities.

Key Responsibilities:
This technician will:

  • Conduct maintenance on external fuel and grounding systems.
  • Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Inspect, test, and operate GSE to assess serviceability and functionality.
  • Service equipment with necessary fluids such as fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuit malfunctions using visual and auditory assessments, testing tools, and technical manuals.
  • Disassemble and reassemble malfunctioning GSE components and accessories.
  • Manage hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.
  • Maintain and update both paper and electronic equipment records.
  • Provide dispatch services for GSE to support aircraft maintenance and operations.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, and modification of powered ground support equipment.
  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Additional Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, with the ability to:
  • Install, maintain, and repair mobile electrical power plant systems and generator electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot relays, variable frequency drives, AC & DC circuits, and other electrical components.
  • Solder wires and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Utilize maintenance manuals effectively during repair and overhaul processes.
