Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY
The Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization Nurse is a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) dedicated to providing exceptional clinical nursing practice and managing patient care effectively.
This role reports to Cardio Pulmonary Services with additional accountability to Acute Care Nursing. The nurse will be responsible for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality, individualized patient and family-centered care, in alignment with the Watson Model of Care, for a designated patient population. This includes recognizing and addressing special needs and considerations related to age and population-specific awareness.
This specialized nursing position primarily supports Cardiology and Interventional Radiology, while also collaborating with various clinical departments for conscious sedation procedures for patients categorized as ASA1 and ASA2 throughout the facility. Responsibilities also include cardiac monitoring as needed during procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The nurse employs the nursing process as a problem-solving framework, utilizing their expertise to anticipate and address patient and family needs.
- Conducts focused nursing assessments to identify key areas for intervention, recognizing subtle clinical changes and adjusting care plans accordingly.
- Demonstrates accountability in prioritizing and organizing patient care, ensuring adherence to planned interventions.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care tailored to the needs of patients on the assigned unit.
- Applies current research findings and critical thinking to make informed clinical decisions.
- Exhibits a commitment to patient satisfaction through effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintains a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship throughout the healthcare continuum, respecting patient rights as a core value.
- Documents patient care accurately, including assessments, interdisciplinary plans of care, and evaluations, following established policies and procedures.
- Anticipates factors affecting patient comfort and modifies interventions accordingly.
- Promotes safety by monitoring and adjusting the physical environment as needed.
- Recognizes and provides age-specific care in treatment, assessment, and education for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare team members to meet specific patient care needs.
- Collects and analyzes patient data to ensure fluid and electrolyte balance, airway patency, and adequate gas exchange.
- Administers medications safely, including vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drugs, understanding their indications and expected outcomes.
- Interprets diagnostic information and communicates findings effectively to the healthcare team.
- Participates in the continuous improvement of patient care and adheres to quality and performance improvement initiatives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Qualifications/Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience in Telemetry or Critical Care nursing, with at least two years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab. Current California Registered Nursing license required. BCLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- Special Skills/Knowledge: Bilingual skills preferred. Basic computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records are advantageous.
