We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Dynamic Research Inc. in Torrance, CA. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely delivery of daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly assigned accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Statement Preparation: Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Month-End and Year-End Closing: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Inventory Management: Assist with fixed asset schedules, including depreciation, disposals, and roll forwards, and lead accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconciliations and Journal Entries: Investigate and resolve reconciling items, including bank, credit cards, accounts receivables, and deposit in transit, and prepare journal entries and reconciliations with proper supporting documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the finance team to contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, and work with other teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Bookkeeping and Sales Tax: Assist with bookkeeping, monthly closing process, and sales tax preparation and management.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting: Gather and analyze cost data, including product costs, labor costs, overhead expenses, and variances, and prepare regular cost reports and present findings to management.
- Inventory Adjustments and Cycle Count: Responsible for reviewing supply chain physical inventory processes and cycle count program, and managing inventory adjustments in the general ledger.
- Cost-Related Journal Entries: Manage the preparation of cost and inventory-related journal entries for month-end, quarter, and year-end close.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory.
- Cost Insights and Targets: Prepare regular cost reports and present findings to management, and assist in setting cost-related targets.
- Process Improvements: Evaluate process deficiencies, formulate corrective action plans, and develop process improvements and procedural controls while leveraging systems and relationships with others within the organization.
- Inventory Forecasts and Audits: Work in conjunction with supply chain to provide inventory forecasts and actuals comparisons, aging, and turns, and coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as needed to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience in general accounting, cost accounting, or inventory analysis.
- Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and experience with QuickBooks and Fishbowl.
- Behavioral Competencies: Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines, detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills, superior problem-solving and communication skills, and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
