Transportation Specialist

Job Summary:
Bluestem PACE is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to provide transportation services for our participants. The ideal candidate will have a valid Kansas driver's license, a clear driving record, and the ability to navigate within the PACE service area.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide safe and timely transportation of PACE participants, meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and other necessary items.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of assigned PACE vehicles on a daily basis.
• Communicate any safety issues to the Transportation Director.
• Operate equipment safely and in compliance with vehicle licensing regulations.
• Maintain and complete daily required records, including Pre and Post Trip Inspections and gasoline purchases.
• Report any vehicle or cell phone operating problems, malfunctions, or incidents to the Transportation Director.
• Transport participants to and from medical/specialist appointments and activity outings as requested by the interdisciplinary team via the plan of care.
• Provide physical assistance to participants when needed while boarding and disembarking from vehicles.
• Maintain PACE vehicles in a neat and clean condition.
• Ensure vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within manufacturer's recommendations, replacing supplies as needed.
• Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team when appropriate.
• Communicate with the Transportation Director or designee daily to be updated on participant conditions/changes, plan of care changes, or interdisciplinary team requests.
• Handle potentially infectious fluids and specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions and practice Standard Precautions.
• Participate in and support Quality Improvement initiatives.
• Maintain any required certifications or licenses.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and a clear driving record with no moving violations.
• Must be able to read and interpret map and route information, navigating within the PACE service area.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, caregivers, and co-workers.
• Prefer prior experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
• Must be knowledgeable of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.
• Prefer prior experience utilizing a transportation software scheduling program.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
