Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary spokesperson for labor relations matters, including contract negotiations and union dealings.
  • Coordinates with management and HR to prepare negotiation strategies and proposals, ensuring consistency with corporate policies and practices.
  • Drafts clear and unambiguous contract language and proposals to achieve uniformity and consistency.
  • Advises local HR managers and management personnel on labor relations policies and practices, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Manages and directs responses to union organizing activity, including training management personnel and interfacing with unions and the NLRB.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a positive employee relations strategy.
  • Handles late-step grievances and labor arbitrations, and responds to NLRB charges.
  • Coordinates with in-house legal counsel, payroll, EHS, and benefits specialists on implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Stays up-to-date on labor and employment laws and regulations, including the NLRA, FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and FMLA.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
