Research Physicians at HealthPartners Institute may hold or pursue external academic affiliations.

Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to engage in part-time practice as a neurologist or geriatrician within the HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to dementia care.

At HealthPartners Institute, Clinical Research Physicians are expected to spearhead and cultivate externally funded research initiatives, conduct nationally and internationally recognized scholarly research, and collaborate with fellow researchers, clinicians, and leaders to enhance health outcomes and care delivery.

Successful candidates will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing research initiatives, leading and collaborating on projects, and disseminating findings through presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Participation in committees and involvement in scientific peer-review processes are also anticipated.

HealthPartners Institute Clinical Research Physicians primarily receive support through grants and contracts from external entities, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). HealthPartners Institute is committed to advancing health and well-being through research, education, and practice.

Our Clinical Research Physicians are integrated within a comprehensive health system, utilizing extensive clinical data derived from a fully integrated electronic medical and dental record system, as well as claims data from over a million HealthPartners patients and members.


Required Qualifications:

MD/DO or equivalent degree with clinical experience in geriatrics, neurology, or a related field. Current Minnesota Medical license or eligibility for MN medical license based on an active medical license in another state and in good standing.

Proven track record of leading research projects and independent scholarly publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature. Strong methodological expertise, interpersonal skills, and excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in public health or equivalent formal training in research methodology. Early to mid-career investigator with demonstrated potential to manage an active portfolio of externally funded research.

History of successful collaboration in interdisciplinary project teams, with 3+ years of experience in health care or clinical trial research. Familiarity with electronic health records or other health care data, along with experience in writing research proposals.
