About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team at Allan Myers, Inc. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in the success of our construction projects by providing accurate and detailed estimates for bids and proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our estimating department and operational leaders to coordinate and perform major estimating functions for one or more disciplines.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, bid tabulations, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and the job costs system into unit cost, man-hour, and crew production figures.
  • Prepare lists of bid items and quantities, and review proposal specifications and drawings.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and meet with owners to determine the scope of work.
  • Recommend vendors and subcontractors for the project, and discuss and obtain appropriate quotations in coordination with the Purchasing Department.
  • Interface with owners, architects/engineers, and subcontractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
  • Perform or coordinate quantity takeoff, assemble direct cost estimates, and analyze alternate construction methods to determine cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in the research of and cost estimates for alternate construction methods.
  • Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, value engineering, or availability of materials.
  • Support the estimation of extra work items and change orders.
  • Assist in tracking awarded contracts as assigned through review of cost reports and discussions with Project Teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including policing job sites to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workplace.
  • Analyze and incorporate delay-free systems into the preparation of the work plan of estimates/bids.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting-related major, or equivalent.
  • Continuing education in construction is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 1 year of construction experience in estimating, operations, and/or engineering required.
  • OSHA 10 hour required.
