Job Summary

This position performs critical field operations, including manual labor duties, to install, repair, construct, and maintain natural gas distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of gas distribution systems and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, or replace steel/plastic pipes
  • Provide first responder assistance in emergency situations
  • Locate gas lines
  • Load and unload equipment, tools, and supplies from trucks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in construction, installation, and maintenance of gas distribution systems
Working Conditions
  • Participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP)
  • Handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres
  • Respond to emergency calls and/or callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty
  • Work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise
