Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Anne Arundel Urology. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Services:
    • Obtain and document patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, BMI, respirations, and pulse.
    • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures by ensuring they are appropriately gowned and instruments and supplies are set up.
    • Use Standard Precautions for all patient encounters.
    • Collect specimens as directed by the provider.
    • Ensure all specimens are tracked/logged prior to transportation to the lab.
    • Complete pre-visit planning and visit prep according to established guidelines.
    • Obtain comprehensive health information from patients/family members at the time of the visit.
    • Update the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with accurate medication reviews.
    • Complete office standing orders for chronic and preventative healthcare needs.
  • Supportive Procedures:
    • Prepare and administer vaccines, medications, and controlled substances as prescribed by a licensed provider.
    • Document and process prescription requests and refills per protocol.
    • Perform basic office procedures and/or tests ordered by the provider.
    • Obtain comprehensive health information from patients/family members to review with providers or clinical resources over the phone.
  • Other Duties:
    • Answer phones and greet patients.
    • Ensure all patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired medical supplies and equipment.
    • Properly handle, store, and clean instruments, equipment, and supplies per manufacturer guidelines.
    • Efficiently manage daily patient flow to manage fluctuating patient volumes and demands.
    • Prioritize daily patient care tasks and activities delegated by the care team.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma required.
    • Accredited program completion preferred.
    • Credentialed as a CCMA, CMA, RMA, preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of work experience in primary care or specialty care clinic preferred.
    • Urology experience is a plus.
    • Allscripts and/or Urochart experience is a plus.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Previous clinical experience is preferred.
    • Reliable transportation is required.
    Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk/workstation and/or prolonged periods of standing, continuous movement, lift, lower, push, pull, and twist. Prolonged periods using a computer with repetitive motion. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
